6. Why was Dunedin Country Club closed for renovations?

Dunedin Country Club was closed in order to rebuild our putting surfaces.  We chose MiniVerde ultradwarf grass for our greens.  MiniVerde provides an excellent putting surface with fine leaf blades, short internodes and high shoot density.  MiniVerde is dark green in color and exhibits excellent low temperature color retention.  Its versatility permits MiniVerde to be mowed at collar height as well, letting the superintendent battle encroachment issues on the edge of the collar instead of the green.  Most of all, MiniVerde is simply easier to manage.  Unlike other ultradwarfs, MiniVerde produces deep roots and is quick to recover from cultural practices, allowing the superintendent to manage it like Tifdwarf while achieving a tighter, faster, and consistent putting surface second to none!

7. Is Dunedin Country Club a Private Course?

No, the golf course property is owned by the city of Dunedin, who in turn lease the property to Dunedin Country Club with the stipulation that it be operated as a Semi-Private course.  As a Semi-Private operation Dunedin Country Club is always open to the golfing public.

However, Dunedin Country Club also offers both golf and social memberships allowing for many of the benefits of a private club, such as guaranteed tee times, locker rentals, golf club storage, block time groups, and club championships.  Club social activities include weekly bridge groups for men and women, bingo nights with buffet suppers, holiday events, special menu nights featuring steak, seafood and other delicacies, and frequent entertainment and dinner dances.
